  • Link between full moon and violent crimes
  • Some police skeptical about moon’s effect
  • Moon may also influence alcohol consumption

YOU might have always suspected it, but now it’s been found to be true: a full moon brings out the worst in us.

A study by a British police force found cases of anti-social behaviour rose noticeably on the brightest nights.

“There is definitely a trend,” Inspector Andy Parr of the Sussex police said.

“With each full moon the number of disturbances recorded increased significantly.”

Insp Parr, who led the study, said its findings were too striking to dismiss as coincidence.

Without an profitable economy in the moon exploration business, it will be really hard to explore the moon. Thus to have a strong business plan to go back to the moon. A few experts express their solutions and their economic strategy that could increase the chances of human to explore the moon.

After answering our moon answer, we break for another wonderful lunch and soon follows up with a presentation with our legal issue. Legal is also another important issue that we have to look up. To ensure a prosperous and maintaining order in our effort to explore the moon. We have to solve our legal questions and create a framework that ensures the success of such endevours. Luckily, in this panel we have a team of experts that discuss these issues and we strongly believe our policy makers and lawyers to help the space community to achieve their ultimate dream of helping humanity to reach the moon.

After our discussion of the moon, its time to review the whole moon symposium. 6 representative from each session came foward to conclude each of them.

After the end of the conclusion, there is an interesting treat by one of our participant, cherlynn Morrow from SETI has been involved in AstroJazz music . Together from 3 students from ISU, they did a collaboration of music/songs performance for all the audiences. An excellent performance by the team which deserver the thunderous claps by all of us.

It has been one successful Symposium with over 200 participant attended the confrence. The largest turnout ever in the history of ISU according to one source.

Representing the students, we would like to thank every single person that comes from all corners of the world to ISU to share their expert opinions on the moon. Not only did it widen our horizon, it also inspire us to go further in our education and career so that we one day could be part of the global effort to explore our next frontier.

February 23, 2007

The second day of the moon symposium gets off with an early presentation of the scientific reason why we go to the moon. The discussion was kicked off by our Japanese friend from the Selene program which discuss about their Orbiter to the moon. The team from JAXA shares with everyone with their scientific aim to go to the moon and what they wish to gain from their mission. The presentation soon follows by another very interesting presentation from other Space Agencies and Private companies and Research Centre. all 3 space agencies ESA-Smart-1, JAXA’s Selene Program and NASA’s LRO mission highlight the importance of their mission and induce a series of further discussion about the scientific reason why do we go the moon. The session ended with a lively discussion of Lunar Astronomy with Dr.Harley Thompson from NASA Goddard SpaceFlight Center.

The session then takes a break for another delicious lunch in the pioneer hall, where by the second day of the symposium. Everyone is more comfortable with each other settle down faster for the lunch discussion. This time, the students and experts mingle and share a series of awe-inspiring discussion of the wild possibilites of us as a civillization are going back to the moon.

After lunch, the next discussion topic is using Moon as a technological test-bed. Where the discussion of the possibilities of using the moon as a technology demostration to explore further to mars and beyond. Isnt it exciting to hear all the dreams of all these scientists and engineer and their driving force to push us humanity to the next frontier.

The discussion brought at end at around 6 p.m. where there is a bus waiting to take our eager moon expert to a beautiful eglise ( church ) in the middle of the beautiful city of strasbourg where there is a special organ concert privately arranged and donated by the city of strasbourg. A beautiful sound and a beautiful performance by the local talents that takes our breath away. After that magnificent performance, we were then treated a traditional alsacian dinner by the mayor of strasbourg in the beautiful restaurant. The dinner is amazing with everyone mingle with each other to share their work and their personal passion on why we go to the moon over the dinner. A Tasty dinner and a lovely evening it has been. However, thats not the end. There is stil one more day to our symposium where a lively discussion of business and policy and law in the moon awaits.
